Word of Encouragement: Your Feet Will Be Like the Hinds Feet of a Deer

You are not staying in the pit that the enemy had dug for you. The Lord has made your feet like the hind feet of a deer, able to climb over the troubling circumstances in your life.

God, the Lord is my strength. He makes my feet like the deer’s; He makes me tread on my high places. Habakkuk 3:19

In Habakkuk 3:19, the prophet hears from God that he is the prophet’s strength, not just in the physical sense, but also in a deeper sense. God is our strength because He gives us the courage to face hardships and endure them with faith.

Habakkuk made a promise to the Lord that he would rejoice no matter what his circumstances were. He would praise God and be thankful to God even when it was not easy.

A hind is a female deer that can place her back feet exactly where her front feet stop. Not one inch off! She can run with abandonment! In times of danger, she can run securely and not get off track. The hind can scale unusually difficult terrain and elude predators.

Hinds feet like a deer

Both David and Habakkuk said that God would cause them to be as sure-footed as a “hind.”

When we run with hind feet on high places, treading on the heights, we live above our circumstances.

He makes my feet like hind feet [able to stand firmly and tread safely on paths of testing and trouble]. He sets me [securely] upon high places. Psalm 18:33. AMP

You are coming out of the pit like the hind feet of a deer. The enemy can’t keep you in the pit, because your hardship and troubles have caused you to run to Jesus, not from Him. Your position that you have taken is, “I will praise Him anyways.”

What is your anyway? A prodigal child, a family member on drugs, infertility, divorce, betrayal, rejection?

Your feet are now like hinds because you did not allow these circumstances in your life that you do not understand to cause you not to trust God. As your enemies have surrounded you, now you will be able to quickly run over them, past them, and go above them! Get that picture in your mind!

You are coming to a place in your life where you have sure footing when the enemy strikes. You won’t be moved out of your position in Christ, you will stay grounded and not knocked off course. You are faster, stronger, and more able to trample down the enemy.
